چکیده
Iriomotejima. This species is usually rare and collected in riversides of southern Japan. D. lacteicornis and D. formosana were collected only in wild forests of Ishigakigjima and Iriomotejima although they were not dominant in the islands. The collection of D. bocki in Ishigakijima, Iriomotejima, Haterumajima and Y onagunijima is a new record of the distribution in Japan. D. bocki is a closely related species to D. kikkawai which is a domestic and world wide species. The first collection of Japanese D. bocki was in Iriomotejima in 1979 by the one of the authors (M.W.). Since morphological classification of the species was actually diffcult at that time, it was identified as D. bocki by mating experiments, two-dimensional electrophoresis and allozye electrophoresis (Ohnishi et al., 1983). The present study shows that D. bocki dwells in the four Sakishima islands and prefers the wild environment rather than human habitation. D. bocki may not be a recent colonizer in Japan. A diffcult identification might have missed the species as in the case in Taiwan (Baimai, 1979; Baimai et al., 1980).

Phyllodes Tumor of the Breast: 307 Treated Cases, the Largest Mexican Experience at a Single Breast Disease Institution
Background: Phyllodes tumor (PT) of the breast in Hispanic patients is more frequently reported with large tumors and with more borderline/malignant subtypes compared with other populations. The objective of this study was to describe characteristics of patients with PT and to identify differences among subtypes in a Mexican population. <...
متن کاملSelf-recognition mechanism of MamA, a magnetosome-associated TPR-containing protein, promotes complex assembly.
The magnetosome, a biomineralizing organelle within magnetotactic bacteria, allows their navigation along geomagnetic fields. Magnetosomes are membrane-bound compartments containing magnetic nanoparticles and organized into a chain within the cell, the assembly and biomineralization of magnetosomes are controlled by magnetosome-associated proteins. Here, we describe the crystal structures of th...
متن کاملDNA Methylation Impacts Gene Expression and Ensures Hypoxic Survival of Mycobacterium tuberculosis
DNA methylation regulates gene expression in many organisms. In eukaryotes, DNA methylation is associated with gene repression, while it exerts both activating and repressive effects in the Proteobacteria through largely locus-specific mechanisms. Here, we identify a critical DNA methyltransferase in M. tuberculosis, which we term MamA. MamA creates N⁶-methyladenine in a six base pair recogniti...
متن کاملMamA as a Model Protein for Structure-Based Insight into the Evolutionary Origins of Magnetotactic Bacteria
MamA is a highly conserved protein found in magnetotactic bacteria (MTB), a diverse group of prokaryotes capable of navigating according to magnetic fields - an ability known as magnetotaxis. Questions surround the acquisition of this magnetic navigation ability; namely, whether it arose through horizontal or vertical gene transfer. Though its exact function is unknown, MamA surrounds the magne...
متن کاملMAMA: Mostly Automatic Management of Atomicity
Correctly synchronizing the parallel execution of tasks remains one of the most difficult aspects of parallel programming. Without proper synchronization, many kinds of subtle concurrency errors can arise and cause a program to produce intermittently wrong results. The long-term goal of this work is to design a system that automatically synchronizes a set of programmer-specified, partiallyindep...
